Because I told you so wouldn’t be enough, TCU alumni have taken the Horned Frogs Rose Bowl win over Big Ten opponent Wisconsin, to the next level.
Twenty electronic billboards close to the Ohio State campus in Columbus, Ohio have been purchased in an attempt to take a jab at OSU president E. Gordon Gee, who made negative comments regarding non-automatic qualifying schools TCU and Boise State, playing in BCS bowls.
Earlier in November the OSU president stated “It’s like murderer’s row every week for these schools,” Gee said referring to the schedules of SEC and Big Ten schools. “We do not play the Little Sisters of the Poor. We play very fine schools on any given day.”
The billboards, which came from a collective fund raised by alumni, read:
“Congratulations to TCU for their BCS Rose Bowl Victory – Little Sisters of the Poor.”
The best part about the Horned Frogs 21-19 win over Wisconsin and perhaps another reason the billboards popped up around the OSU campus, is the fact that the Badgers beat the Buckeyes 31-18 earlier this season.
It should be interesting to see if the shot to the ribs of Gee will spark anything further, as TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte has previously said TCU would take on Ohio State “any time, any place, anywhere.”
It should also be noted that the Mountain West’s, TCU’s conference, has won the Bowl Challenge Cup, given annually to the conference with the best bowl record. The Mountain West finished 4-1 in 2010-’11 bowls.
The Mountain West holds the best bowl game winning percentage in the BCS era, with a record of 29-17.
