Fell from poll: USC, Texas, Penn State, and North Carolina State

Voters get it right…? Believe it or not, the voters were spot on this week. I actually like the move to jump Oregon ahead of Boise State. The Broncos have played two tough opponents without a doubt, but the Ducks traveled to Tennessee and pounded the Vol’s, then routed two conference opponents by a combined 32 points. One of them being the No. 9 ranked team in the country in Stanford. The Ducks look like a team that can beat anyone right now. I like the no move of LSU. I feel like the voters, like I am, are just waiting for the week when the Tigers go down. They look like a team that could lose with a 21 point head start right now. But somehow, they win. I also like the move of Michigan State and Michigan getting back-to-back rankings at No. 17 and No. 18 respectively. It sets a good scene for next week’s in-state showdown.

Biggest Movers…Oregon’s move might not be a big move in spots, but in meaning, this is a huge move. Oklahoma took hold of the top ranked team of the Big 12. Arizona, who had the week off, takes a spot in the Top 10 at No. 9, after previously warming the No. 14 spot. Arkansas took a big step up from No. 15 to No. 11, becoming the highest ranked one loss team, which right now, the Razorbacks look to be the best team that has lost. The losers of the weekend, Stanford, Florida and Wisconsin all took big drops. Wisconsin dropped the farthest, at nine spots in the poll. The biggest jump goes to the team which beat Wisconsin, in Michigan State, who moved up seven spots to No. 17.

Welcome to the Top 25…Four teams took welcoming from AP voters in Oklahoma State, Florida State, Missouri and Air Force. I agree with three out of the four teams that moved into the bottom of the poll. Missouri, however, leaves me with questions. This is a team that needed a last second pass and catch to beat San Diego State and has faced a weak schedule besides the Aztecs. The best two that moved up I feel are OK State and Air Force. The Cowboys have a chance to be 7-0 before a meeting against Nebraska, Oct. 23. The Falcons are an impressive team, as well. Air Force has a chance to make two straight statements against Top 10 teams in TCU and Utah. Both of whom happen to be in the Falcons conference as well. How about the Mountain West? Voters love it right now.

We were snubbed...! If anyone is looking for the snub team of the week, look no further than Kansas State. The Wildcats are 4-0 and have beaten UCLA and conference foe Iowa State this season, with another win against UCF, who lost to NC State by just a touchdown. Kansas State will get their chance to prove how good they are this week with a home Thursday night meeting against Nebraska. A ranking backing them would have made the game even bigger, though. USC, Texas and Penn State will need to earn their way back into the Top 25, while West Virginia, who may be the favorite in the Big East, will need to do the same.

There’s always next week…A few teams could be sneaking their way into the Top 25 next week. Northwestern is one of the quiet 5-0 teams right now and face Purdue this week, so expect a 6-0 start for the Wildcats. Colorado, who beat Georgia last week, has a chance to knock off new Top 25 team Missouri this week. Texas A&M has a chance to be back in discussion playing Arkansas. Jarrod Johnson will really need to limit his mistakes if A&M wants to have a chance against Mallett and the Razorbacks. One week after losing to No. 1 Alabama, Florida has a chance to knock off another unbeaten in LSU. This may be the week the Tigers fall.
